The company’s Board of Directors comprises eight directors, two appointed by each of the company’s owners, who are the four Fire and Rescue Authorities in the North East of England.

The Board defines policy and strategic direction, business and financial planning and deals with significant issues of strategic risk and performance. It also leads change and continuous improvement.

The Board has appointed County Councillor xxx, one of County xxx Authority’s appointees to the Board, to be its Chair. He leads the Board and works closely with RCCD in building the company’s vision and direction.

Kevin Robson - Regional Control Centre DirectorKevin was appointed RCCD in August 2007, following a 30 year career in Cleveland Police and a further year as European Projects Managerfor BAPCO. As head of Cleveland Police Communications Centre he was involved with the Shared Control initiative. Kevin also headed Operational Support, including Emergency Planning, and was project manager for Airwave. Between 2001and 2006 he was seconded to the Police IT Organisation, where he led a team responsible for the specification of new national police ICT solutions. As RCCD, Kevin’s role will be to work with the LAC Company to develop appropriate policies and procedures and ensure the smooth transition of control functions to the RCC. Thereafter he will be responsible for the successful operation of the RCC in accordance with the agreed service level standards.

Colin Stockwell - Company SecretaryColin was appointed in October 2007, following a 34 year career with local authorities in the North East, East Midlands and North West, as a lawyer and manager. He has experience of establishing and helping to runlocal authority controlled and arm’s length companies. Working closely with RCCD Colin will develop governance arrangements for the company and will help to develop an infrastructure for the company’s Board and workforce which will assist the company in running effectively.

Sue Cameron - Senior Operations Manager

Sue was appointed to the role of SOM on the 1st July 2008. She has 29 years experience in the Fire Service, 18 years on watch in Control, 2 years on the Second Generation Control Room Project and 6 years as Deputy Control Manager in Tyne and Wear FRS. For the last three years Sue was the Business Process Manager on the RCC Project Team. As the SOM, Sue’s role is to ensure that the Regional Control Centre meets its objectives and service standards through the effective and efficient strategic & operational management of the RCC Control Room, its personnel and other reporting areas. Sue will also deputise for the RCCD, contributing to the effective running of the RCC and promoting the establishment of a culture of excellence.

John Watson - Service Support Manager

John was appointed in June 2008, bringing 12 years of Facilities Management experience to the post. He has a technical background, starting his career with Northern Electric (NEEB) as an apprentice electrician and  progressing to electrical engineer before moving across to manage the facilities and maintenance of their flagship Newcastle HQ. John then moved to Derwentside College in Consett as Facilities Manager, looking after a portfolio of 14 buildings. A further move took him to Tetley GB in Stockton-on-Tees as Facilities Manager in the world’s largest teabag factory. John’s role here at FiReControl NE is to ensure that the RCC meets its objectives and service standards by effectively managing the relevant contracts, suppliers and direct reports which provide support to the Organisation.
