John Hindmarch- Regional Project Director
I have recently taken over as the Regional Project Director for the Regional Control Centre and Firelink project from my friend and colleague John Burke. Although a challenge this is not entirely a new one for me as my career history to date will bear out.
I joined Tyne and Wear in 1977 as a firefighter and have served operationally on all Fire Stations. During my service I progressed through the roles of Watch Manager and Station Manager eventually reaching Group Manager level in 1994. At this point I lead the risk categorisation team then progressed to lead the team that specified, managed and implemented out current mobilising system and control room at West Denton (so I do have some experience at both projects and mobilising systems). After the successful conclusion of that project I moved into the world of human resources and have been there ever since progressing through the roles of area Manager and Assistant Chief Fire Officer. I currently serve as Deputy Chief Fire Officer retaining the HR references.
I think I am in a good position to understand the complexities of a project such as this and able to lead the teams to delivery. I am convinced that this project will provide enhancements to the systems currently enjoyed in many of the NE fire and rescue services and look forward to bringing it to a successful conclusion.
